Mad Max: Jack Russell Terrier:
Mad Max is a pure bred Jack Russell Terrier with AKC papers.
His previous owner left Max outside on a chain where he
developed heartworm. He was rescued by Dogs Deserve Better and
given a clean bill of health. He is super cute, has a lot of
character, and is loving life as an inside dog. Adopted March
2010!
Scout: Catahoula Leopard Dog -
This beautiful little girl was found with an embedded cable
around her neck (click
here for graphic pictures).
Poor Scout underwent 3 surgeries, but she made a complete
recovery. Adopted December 2009!
Penelope: Chihuahua Mix -
Penelope lived chained outside to a shopping cart. She was saved from that horrible
life and found a wonderful home! Adopted December 2009!

Charlie: Basset Hound/Labrador Retriever Mix -
Poor Charlie had to live his life in an outside pen. He was
saved by Dogs Deserve Better and is now loving life inside with
his new family. With his basset body and adorable lab face, he is sure to

Maya: Black & Tan Hound Mix
- Maya lived with a family for 7 years until
she and another female dog in the house began to have problems.
Then poor Maya was
banished to live the back yard. She now lives inside with a
family who gives her all the belly rubs she could ever want!

Molly: Boxer/Shepherd Mix -
Molly spent the first part of her life scared to death as she
was surrounded by chained dogs who were trained to hurt other
dogs. We saved her from the terrible situation, and she is now
living inside a home where she is
surrounded by loving people and animals. Adopted September 2009!
Jake (now Scooby
Doo): Treeing Walker Coonhound -
Jake lived in a foster home in West Virginia for an entire year
because no one was interested in a hunting dog who does not
hunt. Jake came to Northern Virginia and found his forever home
in less than a week! Adopted August 2009!
Rusty: Shepherd Mix -
Rusty is good-looking young pup who was found as a stray in an
area where people keep their dogs chained and do not spay/neuter
them. No one ever came looking for him, so we found find him a
new home. Adopted August 2009!
Emily (now Biddy):
Rat Terrier
-
Poor Emily belonged to a backyard breeder who did not take care
of her and forced her to have litter after litter. Emily was
missing fur, her ears were raw on top, and she was completely
engorged from not nursing her pups that were given away at only
5 weeks. She is now living inside for the first time in her
life. Adopted August 2009!
Lucky Luke:
Chocolate Lab Mix -
Luke lived his entire life on the end of a very short chain out
in the hot Georgia sun. He was in bad shape when
Caring4Creatures came to his rescue. After a few mishaps, Luke
ended up in a Roanoke, VA, shelter. Luckily, Dogs Deserve Better
was able to bring him to safety. Adopted August 2009!
Hunter (now George Bailey):
German Shepherd Mix -
Hunter lived chained most of his
10 months of life, often getting tangled up and unable to move.
He was rescued by Dogs Deserve Better in Rock Hill, South
Carolina. Adopted May 2009!
Suzie Q:
Toy Fox Terrier Mix -
Suzie Q lived outdoors in a pen in South Carolina until Dogs
Deserve Better came to her rescue. Adopted April 2009!
